Born in 1954, State Laureate Artist of Mongolia, CHIMEDDORJ SHAGDARJAV was raised in a Mongolian herder family and obtained his education during the socialist regime in Mongolia. He is one of the very few artists in Mongolia of his generation, who constantly experiments with various media and techniques. Chimeddorj’s works include oil, ink and watercolor paintings and bronze and iron sculptures. Lately, he has experimented with massive sculpture installations and video works. Artist Chimeddorj took part in some important international exhibitions, such as the 2nd Fukuoka Asian Art Triennial (2OO2), the 2nd and 3rd Beijing International Art Biennale (2OO5 and 2OO7), the 5th Ink Painting Biennial of Shenzhen (2OO6) and the 9th Shanghai Biennale (2O12). His works were displayed in nations such as France, South Korea, the USA, Japan, Belgium, Luxemburg, China, Hong Kong, Holland and are part of permanent collections of eight museums in Europe as well in South Korea and Mongolia.
